Safeguarding Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Love2Learn is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child I teach. Every child has the right to learn in a safe, supportive and respectful environment.

My commitment

Listening to children

Every child is different. Many children don't say when something is wrong, and may show it through changes in behaviour, physical signs or their writing instead. I watch for these signs and make sure children feel able to share worries without fear of judgement.

If a child tells me something concerning, I will take it seriously. I will not promise to keep it a secret, because I may need to share it to keep them safe. I will explain this kindly and support them throughout.

Designated Safeguarding Lead

As a sole tutor, I (Heather Waller) am the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Love2Learn. I follow the principles of Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children, and keep my safeguarding training up to date.

Sessions

Communication

Behaviour and conduct

I keep professional boundaries at all times and encourage children with praise and patience. Physical contact is avoided except where needed to keep a child safe. I expect pupils to treat others with kindness and respect.

If I am worried about a child

Where it is safe to do so, I will usually talk to parents first. I will not do this if it could put the child at greater risk.

Allegations against the tutor

Any concern about my own conduct can be reported directly to Kent's Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) on 03000 41 08 88.

Medical needs and first aid

Please tell me about any allergies, medical conditions or additional needs before your child's first session. This information is kept confidentially and used only to keep your child safe.

Confidentiality and records

Safeguarding records are kept securely and separately from learning records, and are only shared on a need-to-know basis with the appropriate agencies. See my Privacy Policy for more.

Review

This policy is reviewed every year, or sooner if guidance changes.
